Hakari Interview 1 Tell me about your community. “My community…. Well, right now, it’s just Sen, Luke, and, well, me. I used to have some friends in the track team. I wasn’t really close with them, but they were pretty nice.” 1 Who are the most important people in your life? “Sen and Luke. Sen’s a little stupid, and hey, I’m one to talk. Luke is also really nice because he takes time out of his day to try and teach us now that all of the real teachers are gone. I can respect that, even if I don’t care for learning that much.” 1 What’s your favorite song and why? “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun. Describes me perfectly. I like it cause I can relate to it and stuff.” 1 How do you spend your days? “Well, I go out of the house after my daily guilt trip from my mother about my hair… I mean, I can’t say I’m doing the best I can because really, I’m not. But for the times I do a stupid favor for God, I’ll say I’m doing a damn good job. Sorry, off topic. I get to school, sit through a couple lessons before Sen asks his usual “Wanna skip?” In the middle of class. Then we play some games, Luke finds us, we run, and then sometimes it turns into a game of tag. Luke doesn’t usually play with us, but it’s fun when he does. Uh, then I eat with them and go home. I do as many push ups as I can, which is like… 10 right now. Then I take a nap sometimes, or I go out to run… Yeah, that’s about it.” 1 What activity brings you joy? “I like hanging out with the guys. I also like sports, playing them or watching them. I don’t really care to watch them on TV because I don’t follow any specific teams. But man, watching them live is one hell of an experience. You can scream at the top of your lungs, and people will scream right with you. Just remember what side of the stands is supporting what team, unless you wanna get some dirty looks.” 1 What responsibility do you hate? “The whole curse thing where I have to repent for my (probably more than) 128 sins by doing 128 favors to God. I mean, you think it would just balance out on it’s own. I hate it so much.” 1 Where do you live? “What, like my address? Uh… Actually I don’t know, I should ask my brother some time.” 1 What would you say is your best physical feature? “My eyes. They’re like emeralds….. Okay, that’s going too far, no, I just like the color green so it’s nice that my eyes are green too.” 1 What would you say is your worst physical feature? “My hair. I mean, I didn’t give you the whole spiel about my family’s curse, but basically it being black isn’t good.” 1 Are you responsible for anyone other than yourself? “I don’t think so. I mean, my brother is older than me, and my mom isn't that old yet. Neither is my dad." 1 Is anyone else responsible for you? "Yeah, for now. My mom, dad, and kind of my brother. I mean, if I asked him now, he'd shrug it off, but he's helped me out in some places where I really needed it." 2 Have you ever been in love? Are you in love now? "Woah, that's a question. I'll skip this for now." 3 What are your pet peeves? "Well, I don't think I get the concept of a pet peeve too well, but I really don't like it when my mom brings up the whole favors to God thing. I also hate when anyone pulls that look... Like I'm some sort of lost cause and all they can do now is pity me. Pisses me right off. I also hate cheaters. I mean, we're playing a game to have a fun time, a win isn't a win if you cheat or bend the rules to get there. I could probably go on and on. But I'll keep it short." 4 What is your greatest fear? "Well, I'm pretty scared of my friends treating me differently if they find out about my curse. It's not like I killed anybody, that's not why my hair is black. But if I told them about my curse, and then they took a second look at my hair, they might think I'm a horrible person. And if I am, then I'll be damn sure they don't find out about it." 5 Tell me about your deepest longing. "Well, that's an interesting way to ask that question. But, more than anything, I want to get rid of this stupid curse. Even if I have to do however many favors to God. But then I'll have to keep up with it, I mean, one accidental sin and poof, it looks like my "roots" are showing? I don't know how my mom lives under that kind of pressure."
Hakari Description Hakari’s family (the Yuns) have a unique “curse” where if they commit a “sin,” their hair turns black. You can tell if a child is given this curse if they are born with blonde hair. It takes 128 sins for someone’s hair to turn fully black. Their hair won’t turn back in the slightest until 128 favors to God have been fulfilled. (The Yuns version of God is a little different than existing religions) Hakari and Yoken have known each other since elementary and Yoken used to annoy Hakari a lot. Hakari used to be in the Shady High track team before the school was shut down. When she participated in races, she was usually one of the last people to cross the line. Although Hakari wasn’t blessed with athletic talent, she does enjoy sports a lot, and she is very competitive. Hakari loves going to sports games just to yell and cheer. Once, somebody in the stands asked her why she was cheering for both teams, and to that she said “I don’t know either of them, I’m just here to have a fun time!” Her favorite games at the arcade are air hockey and those basketball games She gets a strange feeling when she does something good. It’s not quite happiness, but sometimes it’s a reminder of just how many sins she’s committed.
Sen Description Sen is known for his stupidity. He's quick to act on his curiosity, and that often gets him in trouble. He's also quick to say whatever's on his mind. However, he does value his friends a lot and would definitely put them before himself. For the most part, he's a good guy. Sen likes doing things on a whim, such as trying new foods or attempting random hobbies. Sen likes telling stories, even if they don’t always make sense. He also like hearing stories from others. Sen likes playing games like tag, because even though he’s not really athletic, he loves spending time and playing games with his friends. He also enjoys playing video games, more with his friends than without. He likes making abstract art, but if you took him to an art museum and asked him what someone else’s abstract art meant, he would shrug and go look at something else. Sen likes to doodle on random things, from rocks, to napkins, his hand, on friends, his shoes, you name it. He’s put his fair share of doodles on Hakari and Luke’s T-Shirts. Sen really likes coconuts (and coconut flavored things). To him, it’s one of the best flavors out there. Sen likes listening to music of any kind. He kind of spaces off and lets the music carry him away. He doesn’t really like talking when he’s listening to music because it distracts him from it. You can make him angry by dissing his friends or mom, and taking away his friends (or threatening to) (Insult his friends and/or family, or threaten them in any way.)
Sen Yukio Ultimate Interview 1 Tell me about your community. “Community? Like the school? Uhh… it’s run down, so there’s not a lot of us. Everyone’s cool. Luke and Hakari are my best friends, and they help me a lot so I’m grateful for that. But don’t tell them I said that, they’d call me cheesy or something. Yen is Luke’s brother, I don’t really know him all that well but he’s pretty nice. Kinda shy. Grunge is kind of weird, I mean, you’re telling me he’s 19 years old, homeless, and the place he chooses to hang around is his run down school? What does he eat?” (I guess Luke and Hakari enter after this) 1 Who are the most important people in your life? “Well, other than my mom, I guess that would be Luke and Hakari. They’re my best friends.” 1 What’s your favorite song and why? “Party at club bug. It’s just super silly and I like that. The noises make my ears tingle.” 1 How do you spend your days? “At school? Usually we just do whatever Luke says for a bit, and then me and Hakari run off to play games and stuff. And then Luke comes and chews us out a bit for playing games before it’s time, or on the wrong day. Then when I get home, I play games. I really like playing games. Sometimes I draw, too. They’re not great, but they’re fun so what does it matter?” 1 What activity brings you joy? “It’s like I said in the last question, playing games. But I also like hanging out with Hakari and Luke.” 1 What responsibility do you hate? “I guess going to school, it makes me use my brain a lot and it hurts sometimes. It’s fun because I get to hang out with Hakari and Luke but man, you should see him teach. I mean, he’s the same age as us, yet he’s playing the teacher? Someone enroll that guy into college or something.” 1 Where do you live? “Well, my mom said not to tell people where I live, so I can’t answer that one.” 1 What would you say is your best physical feature? “I think my hair. It looks cool, at least, to me. Plus it’s pretty soft.” 1 What would you say is your worst physical feature? “Well, I’m not exactly attractive in the face. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying I’m ugly or anything. I’m just kinda… eh. So I guess that would be my worst feature.” 1 Are you responsible for anyone other than yourself? “Nope. I’m an only child, but I guess I do have to take care of my mom sometimes.” 1 Is anyone else responsible for you? “Well, I would hope, my mom.” 1 Have you ever been in love? Are you in love now? “Can I skip this one?” (Momotashi in cursive letters but he doesn’t wanna say it because Hakari and Luke are next to him in this interview) 1 What are your pet peeves? “I don’t have a pet.” 1 What is your greatest fear? “Can I skip this one?” (People finding out he’s a spirit and hating him, and then him having to go back to being lonely, also can’t say this because Luke and Hakari are next to him) 1 Tell me about your deepest longing. “What is that? Like my height? I’m 5 something…. Maybe 4 or 5….” 1 Describe your perfect day. “Okay. I wake up, I go to school, we play games all day, Luke finally says that games are better than algebra, and then I go home and give my mom a big hug.” 1 What is the worst thing that ever happened to you in your life before this story? “Wait are we even supposed to talk about that? Well… Actually, I think I’m gonna skip this one.” (Not answered because Luke and Hakari are next to him) 1 What is the best thing that ever happened to you? “The school shutting down, surprisingly. It made me a lot of friends. I used to be kinda lonely.” 1 If the world were going to explode and you could only bring one person with you on the escape pod, who would it be and why? 2 Tell me about a time when you truly felt safe. 3 What would it mean to live as your true, authentic self? 4 From your perspective, what is your biggest flaw? 5 What do other people say is your biggest flaw? Luke Interview Tell me about your community. "I have Annabelle and Mary, plus my brother Yen at home. At school, I have Sen and Hakari. Annabelle is pretty carefree, in fact, Hakari reminds me of her sometimes. Mary is on the gentler side, and she's a bit more logical than she gives herself credit for. I enjoy having conversations with her. Yen is really shy, and he dresses a little strange, at least for my tastes. Of course, nothing against him. It suits him well. Sen is honestly a moron, but he does manage to get himself in interesting situations. I certainly don't dislike him. Hakari, as I said earlier, reminds me of Annabelle. She's carefree, and enjoys running around. If only Sen would join her in doing that, maybe then he could burn some of that energy he has." Who are the most important people in your life? "Annabelle, Mary, and Yen. They're my family." What’s your favorite song and why? "I don't have a specific song, but I enjoy Graham Kartna's music. I'm not a fan of music in general, so I don't listen to it often." How do you spend your days? "Mostly studying. I like to learn about the world around me, but what intrigues me the most, at least, as a subject, is physics. I like to read books, watch documentaries, and while I don't purchase them, I do like to look at scientific models." What activity brings you joy? "It's the same as I said earlier. Studying. Why would I spend my time doing something that doesn't bring me joy?" What responsibility do you hate? "I don't hate my responsibilities. Most of the chores at home I volunteer to do myself. And as for school, teaching Hakari and Sen was another thing I volunteered for. I don't care for the chores, but since they're repetitive, they're easy to do." Where do you live? "Why would I answer that?" What would you say is your best physical feature? "I don't believe this counts, but I would like to say my glasses. Not only would I not be able to see without them, but they do a good job at hiding my face." What would you say is your worst physical feature? "If you couldn't interpret it from my last response, I'll say it. My face. By no means am I ugly, in fact, my whole family is beautiful. My brother, Yen, gets a lot of... attention because he's beautiful. When I used to wear contacts, it was the same for me. But because of that, nobody would take me seriously. They'd call me smart, but it was so shallow. They wouldn't bother having intellectual conversations with me because they were too busy staring at my face. So yes, I've come to dislike it." Are you responsible for anyone other than yourself? "I'm obviously responsible for my little brother, Yen. I'd also say that I'm responsible for Sen and Hakari in some ways, as their teacher." Is anyone else responsible for you? "Annabelle, Mary, and Yen. I know I said I was responsible for Yen earlier, but I would like to think we're responsible for each other." Have you ever been in love? Are you in love now? "Of course not. I think love is a waste of time at my age. Maybe in my later years I can think about it, but for now, I should focus on studying." What are your pet peeves? "Most of my pet peeves involve others. Dismissive behavior, interruptions, things like that." What is your greatest fear? "These are simply what-if situations, so I don't bother dwelling on them for too long. However, I am fearful of what could happen if I ever lost my curiosity. As you may have gathered already, I'm very curious about the world around me, and it's one of my driving forces. If I lost that, I would be left with little purpose." Tell me about your deepest longing. "I want to be an inventor. One day, in the future, once I'm finished studying the world and I have all of the knowledge I can get, I want to invent something crazy. I don't have the slightest idea of what that would be yet, but I know that as I get older, I'll have to think about it more."
Yen Interview Tell me about your community. "Um... okay. My moms are Annabelle and Mary... my brother, Luke... and that's about it. I spend most of my time alone. There are some kids that my brother hangs out with at school, but I kind of stay out of their way. They're really energetic." Who are the most important people in your life? "My moms and my brother, of course. They mean the world to me." What’s your favorite song and why? "Art Deco by Lana del Ray. It's such a pretty song." How do you spend your days? "Alone, usually. Not that I'm lonely, I just enjoy being by myself. I like taking pictures. One day, I wanna capture something out of this world, like paranormal stuff." What activity brings you joy? "Photography. I also like dressing up when I go out. When I go to school, I keep it to a minimum so I don't get stares. But when I'm in public, and I don't know anybody, I don't care. I like to over-accessorize and stuff." What responsibility do you hate? "Responsibilities... I don't know, I spend a lot of time outside of the house taking pictures so chores weren't really a task I ever had to do. My brother always does them anyway. Now that I think about it, maybe I should stay home and do them for him, to give him a break or something..." Where do you live? "Um... skip?" What would you say is your best physical feature? "My face. I don't mean this in a cocky way, but I think I look really pretty, and I put in a lot of effort to stay pretty." What would you say is your worst physical feature? "I'm not sure... I guess my hands. They're kind of short? Small, they're small. I guess I just wish I had longer fingers, but it's not something I think about often." Are you responsible for anyone other than yourself? "Yeah, my moms, well, they're not super old, but Annabelle is a little carefree and gets herself in trouble. Usually Mary talks her out of it, but sometimes me or Luke will reason with her too. Oh, and I'm also responsible for Luke, a little. I mean, he's my older brother, so it generally goes the other way around, but still." Is anyone else responsible for you? "Well, yeah, my family. I mean, I think we're kind of all responsible for each other." Have you ever been in love? Are you in love now? "Uh... I don't think about it often. I've been asked out a few times, but I don't really think I've ever been in love." What are your pet peeves? "Photobombing. Sucks, but I can't do much about it. Still kind of makes me angry though." What is your greatest fear? "If I drop my poor camera, I guess. I don't know, as I said, I don't give things like this a lot of thought." Tell me about your deepest longing. "Well, my dream is to become a well-known photographer and blogger of the paranormal. Of course, I have other blogs for nature and stuff, but my dream is to photograph the spirits of the dead and stuff."
